ABOUT ME

My fellow citizens of Atoka,

My name is Chris Schaeffer, and I am running for Alderman of Atoka.

As a public service candidate, I would like to introduce myself and tell you a little about who I am. First and foremost, I’m a Christian. I’m the father of 3 beautiful girls, husband to a wonderful woman named Ashtyn, and a proud citizen of Atoka.

As an American and a father, I’m concerned with the way our country is headed. And although our town is a great place to call home, seeing the dreaded news each day and logging on to social media has pushed me to get involved with decisions that impact my family and our community.

I'm no career politician, I'm a small town, hard working man who cares about his family, friends, and community. I want to get involved in my community by preserving that small town feel while seeing that our future growth is as efficient as possible. Running for Alderman is my attempt to see that it happens.

I don’t intend to create a platform filled with promises I can’t keep, but what I can promise you is that I will listen to every single issue concerning our town, consistently ask for your input, and will be your voice.

Below you will find an “Initiatives” page listing some of the topics I intend to address if elected to alderman. You will also find a contact form that I will check each day to hear your comments, questions, and concerns. I also am very active on Facebook and respond to direct messages each day.

I hope you will read more about my campaign and consider my candidacy when voting for aldermen this fall.

Thank you,

Chris Schaeffer, Jr.

INITIATIVES

Time for Change

Aldermen act as direct voices for the people they serve with regard to decisions affecting the town at large. From budget allocation, development initiatives, ordinances, community events, and so much more. Aldermen are YOUR voice and are charged with representing a collective decision on how to best grow and protect your community.

If elected alderman, here are some of my top priorities:

PRESENT, TRANSPARENT, AND ACCESSIBLE REPRESENTATION:

So many elected officials are inaccessible and lack honest communication. If elected, I want to raise the bar for our expectations of elected officials. I will attend every meeting and share community updates often by using social media and my website platform to ensure Atoka residents stay in the know, can share their thoughts on issues at hand and contact me directly.

WORK FOR YOU, WITH DATA TO PROVE IT:

Being an elected official means taking on a job of service. We need your input! Atoka has upwards of 10,000 residents, and although I don’t know each and every one of you, I aim to give each and every citizen of Atoka a voice. As a data driven person, I would love to conduct surveys on relevant topics of discussion to get your input. These surveys will be easily accessible on Facebook and my website and will allow Atoka residents to share their opinions on topics and initiatives that deserve a collective discussion. These surveys would offer tangible, analytical data to help myself and other members of public service to base decisions.

PLAN FOR GROWTH:

As the city of Millington plans to expand its commercial development in major ways over the next several years and the coming of Blue Oval City, more residents will seek to call Atoka their home. While this is great news, we also want to be proactive in preparing ourselves. This requires a collaboration with our city planning department to ensure we utilize space and resources across our town in the most appropriate and efficient ways, while also being purposeful. I never want Atoka to lose that small town feeling.

PROMOTE CLEAN & SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS:

Working alongside Atoka Fire, Police and Parks and Rec. to review data, citizens input and brainstorm new and innovative ways to promote safety throughout our town and tackle issues TOGETHER in a proactive manner. Atoka is home to many parks and many community events. My top priority is to ensure our families have a nice and safe place to call home across every inch of Atoka, Tennessee.
